Java Web Services using CXF and Spring

Date and Time: 04/08/2008 - 6:00 to 8:00 PM
Location: 125 S. Webster (GEF 3), downtown Madison
Speaker: Pattabi Doraiswamy
Topic: Web services are software systems designed to support interoperable machine-to-machine interaction over a network. Web services have gained a lot of momentum since the term was introduced in the year 2000. Many software vendors and IT shops have web service products and initiatives. In fact, some of them are in the second or third round of their web service product offerings and solutions.

This session will give a quick introduction to web services, starting with a description of the protocols involved (SOAP,WSDL etc.), and then moving over to a real life example of writing a web service using CXF as the web service technology stack and Spring as a light weight container for dependency injection. The presentation will involve writing code to create, deploy and run a web service application.

This session is targeted for Java developers who are interested in getting started with Web Services, but other experienced Web Services developers who have not been exposed to CXF may find it useful too.
Notes: We will have more books from O'Reilly and Apress as well as another license for IntelliJ IDEA courtesy of JetBrains.
